Contact support
Email support@settlethetab.com for account, product, privacy, or security help. Settle The Tab is operated by one individual, so there is no phone, live chat, or guaranteed response time.
A useful request includes:
- A short description of what you expected and what happened.
- The app version, device or browser, and approximate time with time zone.
- The group name only if needed; do not include other members' email addresses or financial details.
- A screenshot only after removing names, amounts, receipt contents, access tokens, and other private information.
Account access
Use the same sign-in method you used when creating the account. Apple and Google handle their own credentials; Settle The Tab never receives those passwords. Email accounts can use the password reset page.
For privacy, sign-in and recovery screens do not confirm whether an arbitrary email address has an account. Support will never ask for your password or a one-time sign-in link.
Offline changes and sync
A new expense should remain visible when the connection is weak or unavailable. Keep the app or browser profile installed until queued changes synchronize. Clearing site data or deleting the app can remove changes that never reached the server.
- Reconnect and use Retry when the app offers it.
- Review a conflict instead of assuming one device silently won.
- A receipt has its own upload status and can still be pending after the related expense synchronizes.
Groups and invitations
Only invite people you intend to share the group's ledger with. Members may see names, expenses, splits, balances, settlements, activity, and receipts available to their role. Never post an invitation link publicly.
If an invitation is missing, check the target address and spam folder. Invitation links expire and are intended for the invited identity. Contact support if the wrong person was invited or a link appears to have been shared.
Receipt attachments
The first release accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF images up to 10 MiB, subject to image and pixel validation. PDFs are not accepted. Images are re-encoded to remove embedded metadata, but visible names, addresses, loyalty numbers, and card fragments remain visible unless you crop or redact them.
Receipt access is private to authorized group members. Upload only what the group needs and what you have permission to share.
Balances and settlements
Balances are calculated from information entered by group members. Simply Settle may suggest fewer repayments without changing the expense history. Review the payer, recipient, amount, and currency before recording a settlement.
A cash settlement is a record, not a payment.Marking an amount paid is not confirmation from a bank, card network, wallet, or payment provider.
Privacy and account deletion
The Privacy Policyexplains what information is collected, who can see it, and how long it is kept. You can initiate permanent account deletion from Settings in the web or iOS app. Shared ledger records may retain a de-identified participant so other members' accounting history remains accurate.
Email privacy requests to support@settlethetab.com. Do not send identity documents unless support specifically requests them through a verified process.
